Parallel Worlds Empty
PostSubject: Parallel Worlds   Parallel Worlds Icon_minitimeTue Jan 24, 2012 1:48 pm

So I've been helping out with a friends "Parrellel Worlds" Project, and I have been helping with some of the background stuff. And I've been kinda wanting to share with you guys some of the things I've been doing

Although the 1st thing if nothing to do with it, it was created with it in mind:

Welcome to a world similar to our own, yet so very different. Welcome to a world filled with super humans, aliens, magic, and the impossible. It is a world where powerful beings work and clash together.

THE WORLD-2012

The myths and legends of old; of Gods and monsters are all real, not supernatural deity’s that plagued mankind, but just simply genetics. These where the 1st super humans. As time wear on their vanished into fabled lore and urban legends, but the fact remains that there has always been heroes to defend the innocent and monsters and villains who reveal in chaos.

Although these heroes had been fighting evil before long ago, most agree that the one of the earliest examples of the age of modern heroism began in the Victorian era with Sherlock Holmes combating Jack the Ripper, the vampire Nosferatau and his nemesis Moriarty in the slums of Victorian London. In 1898 the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen fought of the Martian invasion of Britain, being one of the “1st known teams of super humans” known to the public eye. These 19th century heroes would catch the public imagination, a shadow of things to come.

It would be the start of the First World War that would make everything change. The conscripted masses of Europe would discover their powers in the hell of the trenches, with devastating consequences for both sides. It would not be till the war’s end would we see the 1st use of “Meta-Solider Regiments” and use of super powered indivuals in specialized needs such as the use of psychics for intelligence gathering or shape shifters for sabotage.

After the end of the 1st World War a few of the demobbed super humans found that abilities where highly profitable in the criminal underworld, while on the other hand several of their super human brethren took up the mantle of vigilantism to protect the world against their evil. With the appearance of Major Freedom, one of the greatest and most famous superheroes of all time, in New York City in 1932, inspired many other super powered metahumans to don costumes to bring justice to the streets, especially in the wake of the Great Depression.

When the 2nd World War was declared, Adolf Hitler unleashed various super powered horrors, including the SS Ubersoldats Diversions and extremely powerful class-1 metahumans such Kaptain Krieger and The Blitz onto Europe, whose own armies and meta-humans stood little chance. Hitler’s possession of the spear of destiny prevented Allied heroes from intervening in Germany directly, but nevertheless, many Allied heroes served with distinction during the war, especially Major Freedom, who thwarted an invasion of the US East Coast by Kaptain Krieger, alongside other Allied Super Soldiers like Britain’s Lady Spitfire and Albion, France’s Monsieur Mystérieuse or the Soviet Unions Hammer and Sickle
These days, most nations possess heroes. The Soviet Union continues to remain a superpower, thanks to The Red Star, arguable one of the most powerful class-1 Meta humans on the planet. China remains staunchly communist, with its People's Champion keeping it true to Mao's legacy. North Korea, a twisted dictatorship under the iron first of Kim Jong-Il, possesses its own metas who wreck havoc on behalf of their Dear Leader. Japan retains a different system of heroes to the rest of the world; the Mech Corps and the Anti-Kaiju teams of the JSDF form its technological arm, whereas the Magical Girls and Charka Warriors, source of much controversy and debate, deal with other threats.

However the United States certainly retains the edge in the methuman arms race, with the development of the meta-soldier “Alpha Program” in the 1960’s giving rise to successive generations of increasingly powerful ‘enhanced’ soldiers, which helped them avert defeat in Vietnam. The Soviets of course followed suit, but remain behind in terms of genetic engineering and cybernetics.

With the rise of the 21st many things have changed. The meta-suicide attacks that destroyed Boston on Valentine’s Day 2001 have changed many people’s view on super human’s role in society, some calling for draconic “measures to be put into place to protect the normal people, the homo-sapiens” that not many meta-humans agree on. Also in recent years there has been a rise in young superheroes with little regards to the law, who use their abilities as a means to boost their popularity or sponsorship. This is showcased the most with CGW videos across the internet, or Capes Gone Wild! Which are more or less videos of superheroes causing carnage or gruesome death to criminals. Another example of this might be the Quasar/Nightingale lesbian sex video that was leaked to the internet and quickly become of the most downloaded video of all time.

Humanity has made contact with many alien races over the years, with knowledge of other beings been common since the Martian incursion into Britain during 1898. A few alien beings, including the Ynev Hunter, have pledge their services to humanity. The Earth has suffered several invasions, by races such as the Illsumi, the Krell or the Unorganics, each of which have been beaten of by Earths Super-Humans

Magic also exists, although its users are rare and specialised, and are generally not considered very prolific compared to regular superheroes. Although higher masters of Magic are very potent, they are also very rare and reclusive. The most potent of all magic users are the daemon, ancient beings from another plane, which are divided into the noble An’Gellen and the wicked Demons, and have waged an endless civil war for five hundred thousand years.

Massive world-threatening events are not uncommon, along with various other super villain attacks, such as the worldwide anarchist organisation VIPER set up by Leon Trotsky or the Nazi Vampires of South America; The Jahrhundt. Against these threats are arranged the worlds governments own super human teams; STRIKE, X Division or the KGB Department 13
