Subject: Sharing some good comics. Tue Dec 04, 2012 6:04 pm
I figured I'd share some good webcomics and manga I read here. That way if anyone is looking for a good story they can find something more easily than just clicking though other comics and if enough of us like the same comics and manga it can make for a good RP. :3
Webcomics: Dominic Deegan - http://www.dominic-deegan.com/ - Great Fantasy series. It's been going for awhile now so You'll have plenty to read. One of my long time favorite comics. Schlock Mercenary - http://www.schlockmercenary.com/ - Long running sci-fi military comic. Really good. Follows the exploits of a band of mercenaries as they blow stuff up. XD Drowtales - http://www.drowtales.com/index.php - Good, if complex (which is sometimes good?), long running series. Great art work and I know at least a few people here read it. Sister Clair - http://www.sisterclaire.com/ - Nuns verse Witches. There was a huge war between the two and this is the aftermath of said war. It's been really funny and could make for good RP material. Goblins - http://goblinscomic.com/ - Really good DnD themed webcomic. Wouldn't translate into a RP very well, but if you like DnD I suggest this one. Misfile - http://www.misfile.com/ - "In one little corner of the universe, there's nothing more irritating than a misfile..." Gender Bender slice of life style comic about an angel that misfiles two peoples' heavenly files, thus changing facts about their lives, and before he can fix it he gets kicked out of heaven. WereGeek - http://www.weregeek.com/ - Another DnD comic though this one broadens out into a lot of other styles of nerdom as well. Girl Genius - http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/ - Steam Punk fantasy comic. Mad scientists and minions are kind of the theme. Highly suggest it. Go Get a Roomie - http://www.gogetaroomie.com/ - I know at least a few people here read this. Really good. Pixie Trix Comix - http://www.pixietrixcomix.com/ - This is actually three comics, but they link together a lot and I know at least a few people here read this. Really good. Kiwi Blitz - http://www.kiwiblitz.com/ - Giant Robots and vigilantes. Has a lot of influence from anime. Definitely a good one. Rusty and Co. - http://rustyandco.com/ - Um..yet another DnD style comic. XD Really funny. If you like DnD I suggest it. Sins - http://sincomics.com/ - Simpler comic about the seven sins and the seven virtues are real people. The timeline skips around a lot, but it is really good and is an easy read. Shiniez's comic - http://shiniez.deviantart.com/ - Not safe for work! X3 Really good adult comic. It gets deep into my brain! If you like sexy lesbians doing kinky stuff I highly suggest this one.
Manga: Drifters - http://www.mangareader.net/303/drifters.html - Made by the same guy who gave us Hellsing. Really good one. Fantasy world were various "good" and "evil" historical figures from our world wake up there. Cage of Eden - http://www.mangareader.net/213/cage-of-eden.html - Summer vacation gone horribly wrong. Soul Eater - http://www.mangareader.net/157/soul-eater.html - I'm pretty sure most of us have read this one. Fairy Tale - http://www.mangareader.net/135/fairy-tail.html - Also think a lot of us have read this one.
I've got other comics and such that I read, but figured I shouldn't over load this right away. These are more the comics I regularly check and really like so I wanted to share them.

Web Comic wise I can only suggest people have a look at Question Content a very funny comic about music, relationships, hipsters and nerds. Oh and robots.
In the Japanese world of manga, some series that deserve some loving are Spice and Wolf, a very smart and mature manga set around surprisaly a mixture medevil European economics and wolf goddess. Trust me it is really good. Other than that K-on! another funny cute music story with a 'bit' of fanservice on the side. Also bravo on the translating team for what I can only guess a hard job on translating the jokes
Also Blue Exocist your urban fantasy comendy shounen buts it's actually alright, and Claymore a very dark and gory adventure manga.
In more traditional comics Scott Pilgram is a very surrel yet funny comic that I would say that's similar to Questionable Content. But it's more of a video game
From DC Blackest Night and the latest Green Lantern stuff along side with the new 52 stuff. Oh and Birds of Prey- all the female superhero's and villains lol
From Marvel- Civil War, Invincible Iron Man and the Thunderbolts

Drowtales is pretty awesome.
From VGrace's post Questionable Content is really good. I've been reading it awhile. I used to read Spice and Wolf and Claymore, but the site I had used started glitching on me. I found a new one that works, but have lost my place. >< I'll find it again during Christmas Break.
Oglaf is a great one. It's not safe for work at all, but it is really funny and kinky. Highly suggest it.
The SNAFU comics are great. They've got sci-fi and fantasy galore. Nerf This is a dapper fantasy comedy. Just started reading it and have like it a lot. Star Slip is a great sci-fi comedy centered around a luxury warship turned museum spaceship. Multiple dimensions, time travels, and art galleries. XD

Thought I might point people towards Matt Wilsons NaruHina Chronicles on DeviantArt, a Naruto fan comic that's spawned 18 volumes ! That's must than most manga's ! Good action and romance and the quiltly does really improve over time.

On mention of deviant art along with Shiniez's bdsm comic, Humon's comics, Tracyjb's Lackadaisy comic are great.
Humon has two main comics. "Scandinavia and the world" a comedic portrayal of Scandinavia and other nations as individual people. "Neils" a crime and spy comedy with some James Bond influences.
Tracyjb's is a American Prohibition time frame Bootlegging Gangster comic.

Oglaf is amazing. I love it a lot.
From the webcomics I like, I have some suggestions too~
Curvy is a comic by Erika Moen, totally erotic in a weird way. It's really surreal and crazy, sometimes with nice little kinky sex scenes and tons of nipples. The humour might not be everyone else's type. I like reading it though!
Another great erotic one is Chester 5000XYV, which has no dialogue but is drawn by the talented Jess Fink! I've met her. The art in this one is so lovely~ And the story is actually really subtle for there being no dialogue between characters.
Some non-sexual ones are up next. For starters, how can anyone mention D&D themed webcomics without mentioning Order of the Stick :\ It's so creative and the story is great, even if I don't understand half the humour. It's really for D&D people, but I still like reading it anyway!
Lastly, and this one is my favourite on the internet, I have to mention Kate Beaton and Hark! A Vagrant! This one is totally not for everyone. It's about history and basically nothing else, but it's so funny and awesome. Kate is Canadian! I've met her too! She's jolly good fun~ The most recent Hark a Vagrant comics she's put out are like, kind of weird. I don't like them as much. For better stuff, you should go back a little.
Yep~

Well to imitate Cazz here is a list of good webcomics
No need for Bushido http://noneedforbushido.com/ - A fun violent comic about Samurai, unfortunately the updating has stopped and it might be done. Still though a very good read.
Paranaturalhttp://paranatural.net/ - This is a very well done comic about slightly crazed middle schoolers fighting ghosts it follows in much the same vain as bleach did before the Soul Society Arc. As well this comic has stunning backgrounds, truly dynamic art and a rich cast of characters. This I have to say is always worth the read.
SMBC http://www.smbc-comics.com/ - A wonderful little comic that updates daily however there is no over arching plot or characters but its always good for a laugh.
Lackadaisyhttp://lackadaisycats.com/ - This is a wonderful comic about rum runners during the Great Depression, also for whatever reason they are all drawn as cats.
Double K http://doublek.smackjeeves.com/ - Have you ever imagined what if TTGL was a buddy cop movie staring Kamina and Kittan, well look no further. The official description is "Miami Vice meets Gurren Lagann in the most explosive, high-octane buddy cop comedy in the HISTORY OF POLICE and/or INTERNET FAN COMICS"
Spinnerettehttp://www.spinnyverse.com/ - This is a brilliant little comic about superheroes in a world that is a little to self-aware.
I may add in a list of good manga and western comics latter on, but for now I think I have given enough.

http://jaynaylor.com/ - First read Better Days, then Original Live, since its the follow up. If you are neutral on furry, its a like, if you are a fan of furry, its a must. Story can be emotional, Very funny, and is good reading. The artist is also very good.... He also draws good 18+ Work... But thats on the side x3
And, I know its not a comic, But As we are on topic of great things: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation
I just do not recommend watching this about a game you are SURE you want to get, or a game you are eager for. Otherwise? Funniest thing on the web

Jay Naylor is amazing. I love his work, and yes, alot of his furry happy mating times have been read.... Okay all of them.... OKAY MULTPLE TIMES T.T
As for LFG, Yes, an amazing story of funny, well drawn elements, but i found that a long stretch was... confusing and a bit dense. But its always good for a laugh. Actually didnt name it cause i thought it was already on everyones list here O.O

Well I recently got into Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and its pretty good, kinda. Sure the art is kinda rough at first and the strange posing, that everyone is named or has a superpower named after rock music, that its a generational tale meaning that the protagonist switch after every part. But once you get into its well worth it.
I'd start with either
http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/jojos-bizarre-adventure-part-2-battle-tendency-r5538 In 1938 an Englishmen Joseph Joestar hunts vampires and the ancient shapeshifting abominations that invented them, with magic kung-fu and the aid of Nazis one of whom becomes a cyborg, an Italian with murder bubbles and an eighty year old man named Speedwagon.
http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/jojos-bizarre-adventure-part-4-diamond-is-unbreakable-r6269 In 1999 the 16 year old bastard son of Joseph Joestar and his friends must defend his hometown against its inhabitants after many of them are shot with arrows that will either giver reality warping superpowers or kill you.
